    Included in this service:

  • Complaint about damage to vehicle during service and repair work

This is a letter to a garage complaining about damage caused to your vehicle whilst it was in their possession for routine servicing or repair work. The letter suggests that the garage repairs the damage free of charge, but advises them that, should they fail to do so, you will engage another mechanic to repair the vehicle and will pass on this cost to them. Furthermore, you warn that failure to pay this debt will result in your initiating court proceedings against them.

  • Complaint about substandard vehicle servicing

If, subsequent to having your vehicle serviced, it exhibits the same faults that the garage had confirmed as having repaired, you can use this document to generate a letter of complaint to the garage. It assumes that you have had the problems repaired by another mechanic, and now asks the original garage to recompense you for the cost of those repairs.

  • Demand a refund from a car dealer for a faulty vehicle

Use this document to demand a refund from a car dealer for a vehicle that has developed one or several serious faults shortly after you purchased it from them. You should include with the letter a report from an independent organisation, e.g. the AA, confirming that the vehicle has been examined and found unfit or unsafe to drive. Under the Sale of Goods Act 1979, you are entitled to a full refund of the purchase price from the dealer.

  • Demand compensation from a careless driver

Use this letter to demand compensation from a careless driver to cover the cost of the excess of your insurance or for any uninsured losses. After using this letter, you should proceed in small claims court if you do not get results with this letter. Please note that if the other driver did not have insurance, you will have a claim against the Motor Insurer's Bureau and should contact them.

  • Disagreement about a motor vehicle service charge

If a garage presents you with a bill for servicing a vehicle which is much higher than the verbal estimate you were given at the time of booking the service, use this letter to complain to the garage that the amount charged is unreasonable. You should accompany the letter with lower quotes for the same work from at least 3 other garages together with a cheque for what you deem reasonable recompense for the work they have completed on your vehicle.

  • Letter to a car dealer requesting repair of a faulty car

Use this document when you have been sold a faulty car to ask the dealer to repair the fault free of charge. If the dealer still refuses liability, you should obtain an independent report from an examiner detailing the faults with your car. You may then wish to use the Rapidocs document "Refuse a car dealer’s denial of liability" to pursue your claim further.

  • Refuse a car dealer's denial of liability

This is a letter refusing a car dealer’s denial of liability to repair faults found in either a new or a used car. Before using this document, you should have used our "Letter to a car dealer requesting repair of a faulty car" or else contacted the car dealer for a repair and had the car dealer deny his/her liability.
